Feminist Law aims to expose and discuss law from a feminist perspective through our academic-style articles, our podcast and our newsletter. We are a volunteer-based group, mainly composed of students, law graduates and young legal professionals although anyone is welcome to take part and contribute to our platform!
We define feminism as the liberation of women from all forms of oppression on the basis of sex.
The law has long shown to be gendered and biased; however, the law has the power to change this and our mission is to bring these issues to light and address them in a clear, educational and honest manner with you. Meet the Team
Co-Founder
Courtney Jones
Courtney Jones is a current ESRC-funded PhD candidate in law. She is also a graduate of neuroscience from Memorial University, holds an LLB (Hons) and MRes (Distinction) in Socio-Legal Studies from the University of Exeter. She has spent time volunteering with a number of feminist organisations, including End Sexual Violence Newfoundland and Labrador (ESV-NL), Planned Parenthood NLSHC and the ROMILDAMOR Foundation. She is particularly interested in the intersections of technology, law and feminism. Her PhD is examines criminal and human rights law's application to nudification.
Co-Founder
Clara Topiol
Clara Topiol is a graduate of the LLB/Maitrise en Droit (Master 1- European Law) at the University of Exeter and is currently completing her training contract to qualify as a solicitor. She has a passion for volunteering and has done so with organisations such as Devon Rape Crisis, Support Through Court, Wellbeing in Action, Justice and many more. She hopes to progress to a career in private client law and is particularly interested in feminism within that area of law.
